Once you know what you are after its time to start getting some prices - for the basis of this post, we will be talking about a 20ft Shipping Container.
The Cost of a Standard Container
Like Oil - the price of containers jump up and down constantly, it is very difficult to give an exact answer to this question, however we have taken some averages over the past few years to help give a better understanding.
If you are just looking to buy a standard 20ft Shipping Container, brand new, nothing fancy, no insulation or electrics - you will be looking at a cost of around £2900 +VAT.
As stated, this price is not fixed. During the COVID period you could find containers ranging near £4000 - even today you might get lucky and find them for cheaper than £2500. However, a key factor that may determine the amount you pay is the location.
Unlike 'flat pack containers', your standard shipping container can be a nuisance to move around, transferring them from one end of the country to the other costs a fair amount of money in itself. Because of this, the same container may be cheaper in Leeds or Birmingham as opposed to Aberdeen or Inverness.
It is worth noting that this price is not fixed. Depending on where you go to buy your container it may work out more or less. It is always worth asking the supplier for an up to date price list so that you know exactly how much you will be paying.
